I started making jewelry in the early 2000s when one one my students taught me some basic things while I was there teaching English. I came back to the US and started working in a high school and never touched jewelry again... until 2020 during COVID. I needed to keep myself busy, and it was something my child and I could do together as we were locked down in Alaska.
Originally, I put my items on the Facebook Marketplace and got a lot of positive response. Then I sold things at an outdoor market. After spending so much money and time on my new craft and small business, I have a new appreciation for artists and the hard work that goes into creating things and trying to run a business. The whole experience has been a giant learning curve for for my young son and me.
